A headteacher once told her that there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child’s eyes light up when they understand a new concept and this is a sentiment she wholeheartedly endorses. Katy loves to work with younger children because of their enthusiasm for learning and is always looking for new ideas and ways to develop their learning in fun, creative and exciting ways.

Teaching Biography

Katy is a valued member of our Senior Leadership Team and committed reception teacher, and has contributed to improvements in assessment, teaching and learning, staff development and operations during her time at Bassett House School. She is now very excited to lead the Early Years department, bringing her expertise in team work, organisation and staff development to Bassett Bear House.  We value Katy’s sense of humour, ability to see the big picture and her total dedication to her class and colleagues.

Katy moved to London in 2010 and started her teaching career at a state school in Fulham, St Johns Waltham Green, and also has worked at Brackenbury Primary School in Hammersmith before joining Bassett House School as the computing teacher in 2015. After three years teaching a subject she was thrilled to get the opportunity to return to class teaching as she is a passionate Reception teacher.

Personal Biography

Katy is a northerner at heart born and raised in the Lake District. She is the youngest of three children and has two older brothers. She loves to return to the Lake District to spend time with her family whom have all remained in the North of England.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Childhood Education and Culture – Leeds University
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Lower Primary Teaching – University of Cumbria
