New Headmistress – Mrs Kelly Gray

Meet Mrs Kelly Gray – new Headmistress at Bassett House School

We are thrilled to share the exciting news of Bassett House’s new Headteacher, to succeed Mrs Cawthorne when she steps down to focus on building a portfolio career in education.

Following a comprehensive and competitive recruitment process, the panel was unanimous in selecting Mrs Kelly Gray – currently Deputy Head and DSL at Ecole Jacques Prevert, an outstanding international and highly-bilingual school in Brook Green – as the next Headteacher of Bassett House. Mrs Gray will be joining Bassett House School after the summer bank holiday for a thorough handover period and will start as Headteacher in September 2021.

It has been a total delight becoming part of beautiful Bassett and I cannot wait to take over the reins from Mrs Cawthorne in September.  Bassett pupils are very special children: interested and interesting- true ‘amBASSETTors‘ for their school!  I am thrilled to bring my nurturing brand of leadership to the Bassett House family.

Mrs Kelly Gray, Headmistress

With many years’ experience leading in London prep schools and beyond – including seven years employed at Thomas’s Kensington working to raise standards in curriculum, pastoral care and assessment for learning, as well as being the founding Deputy Head of an oversubscribed trust-run school in Balham – Mrs Gray’s demonstrable understanding of the unique character of Bassett House, and her commitment to nurturing its special, family feel shone through. Her focus on pastoral care, underpinned by her strong educational principles, make her an excellent next leader for Bassett House.

Under Mrs Cawthorne, Bassett House has developed an outstanding reputation for delivering an individualised education to its pupils, where every child is nurtured and able to flourish. With her dedication to providing an inclusive, safe and welcoming environment, Mrs Gray shares these ideals and will continue to foster a happy and thriving community at Bassett House.  Kelly said she knew Bassett House was the school she wanted to lead as soon as she walked through the doors and met Bassett’s exceptional pupils and dedicated staff.

Where next?
