Jane’s philosophy for teaching music is this: make music fun, expose children to as many musical genres and instruments as possible, and help children to love music – whatever music is inside them will emerge. Performing builds confidence, ensembles teach collaboration, singing lifts one’s spirits and the appreciation and enjoyment of music can be a lifelong pleasure.
Jane started teaching at Bassett House School in 2015 and has become a much loved member of staff. Prior to this she taught at Eaton House the Manor Pre-Prep in London, after spending a year gaining her teaching certification at Earlsfield Primary School.
Jane is originally from the United States, of Welsh-American heritage. She has lived in London since 1995 and has a son, Jack, who the older children know from his GAP work at Bassett House – Jack loved his time with us.
Jane is currently also developing programmes for geriatric music therapy, is active in US politics, and enjoys travelling, particularly visiting friends and family in the United States and Canada.
