Introduction: History, Ethos & Aims

History

Bassett House School was founded in 1947 and is a member of the IAPS, a constituent of the Independent Schools Council.

It has two sister schools, Orchard House School in Chiswick and Prospect House School in Putney, both of which, like Bassett House School, take both boys and girls from the age of 3 or 4 until the time they leave for their next senior or intermediate preparatory schools.

Bassett House takes children from age 3 to age 11. In the current academic year, 2012/13, the school has some 190 pupils in eleven classes.

Ethos and Aims

Bassett House pupils enjoy coming to school and take full advantage of a broad based curriculum as well as numerous extra curricular activities. Our aim is for all pupils to be happy and fulfilled so they may reach their potential across all areas of the curriculum thereby becoming confident, creative and independent learners. Teaching is supportive yet challenging and always takes into account the individual needs of the children. We also strive to develop self-respect along with a strong sense of moral values so that our pupils can become responsible and involved members of society. Underpinning all aspects of school life is an ethos which shows mutual respect and concern for all members of the school community and fosters close relationships between school and home.

The above is a summary. Please refer to the full statement of the school's ethos and aims.
