Educational Policy: Forms

The Lower School comprises the Den, Lower 1 (Reception) and Forms 1, 2 and 3. The Upper School (for children aged 8 to 11, Years 4 to 6) comprises Forms 4, 5 and 6.

All classes are kept to a size designed to ensure that each child benefits from a communal environment whilst at the same time receiving considerable individual attention.

Every class has its own form teacher, and in classes up to and including Form 1 there is usually also a full-time student teacher or classroom assistant. The school also employs a number of additional teaching staff to ensure that children in need of individual attention, most especially those with special educational needs or for whom English is an additional language, receive extra help quickly and effectively.

Children enter the school either in the youngest class, the Den, at the age of three or in Lower 1 (Reception) when they are four. They move up a class each academic year until Form 3 (Year 3), when some of the boys leave for their next school at the age of eight. Children will then leave for their senior schools at the age of eleven from Form 6.
